PeKANBARU - The Kampar River, which is located in Gobah Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency, Riau, experienced a one-kilometer abrasion with abrasion width of 12 to 20 meters, resulting in the house of the community being inhabited by 20 families collapsing.

"In addition to residents' houses, the Kampar River abrasion also caused an environmental road to subside more than 800 meters," said Acting Regent of Kampar Hambali, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 16.

According to Hambali, the relevant agencies need to immediately make improvements so as not to cause more losses, including repairing the pedestrian suspension bridge, which is now in a worrying condition.

The pedestrian suspension bridge is also in a fairly worrying condition due to the Kampar River abrasion.

"If it is not repaired immediately, it will cause the bridge to collapse, so that people's vehicles crossing the bridge in Gobah Village and its surroundings will also be disrupted. Therefore, after being repaired, the local community needs to take good care of and maintain this bridge," said Hambali.

Acting Gobah Village Head Jupri hopes that the Kampar Regency Government will immediately build a sheet pile to hold a one-kilometer abrasion on the Kampar River, and immediately try to save the nearly collapsed bridge, build houses for people affected by abrasion, and repair the badly damaged neighborhood.

He also asked the Kampar Regency Government to immediately stop mining the illegal C excavation material, because it is less than two kilometers from residential areas.

Head of the Operations and Maintenance Work Unit of the Sumatra River Basin Center (BWSS) III Rullyanto said his party would seek emergency response to sheet piles/bronjong according to the available budget.

"If the budget is not sufficient, it will be proposed back to the central Public Works Ministry, but for now we will seek an emergency response to the sheet pile, and we will also report it to the Ministry of Public Works to get budget support," he also said.

Kampar Regency PUPR Head said work was now being carried out to temporarily rescue the bridge by fixing the cliffs and surrounding areas holding the bridge ahead of permanent repairs.

"To save this bridge using emergency response funds and for permanent repairs, it will be used from the Kampar Regency APBD funds. The bridge can still be crossed, but with a queue system," he said.
