Bawaslu Investigate Viral Video Of Takalar Regional Secretary Allegedly Campaigning For Gibran During Teacher Rembuk

Bawaslu Takalar, South Sulawesi, is investigating allegations of violations of the neutrality of Civil Servants (ASN) suspected of campaigning for vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Search related to the video of the Takalar Regional Secretary which went viral during a teacher's boost at the Balla Appaka Museum, Sulapa.

"Bawaslu Takalar has formed a team to search for this information. Because, until now there has been no or no incoming reports. The results are awaited," said South Sulawesi Bawaslu member Saiful Jihad as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, January 15.

Separately, the Chairman of Bawaslu Takalar Nellyati said that he had received initial information in the form of the video which was widely circulated on WhatsApp social media groups. The next step will be to conduct a search related to the video.

From the viral video recording which lasted 1 minute, it was known that the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of the Takalar Regency Government Muhammad Hasbi during the teacher's meeting was suspected of conveying messages containing campaigns.

"The viral video of the alleged non-neutrality of the Takalar Regional Secretary as ASN and the alleged campaign is initial information and for us we will immediately conduct a search of the video and ensure the process is in accordance with statutory regulations," he said.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Division for Handling Violations and Settlement of the Bawaslu Dispute, Takalar Ince Hadiy Rachmat, promised to explore the viral video because it became initial information, including forming a team immediately.

The same thing was conveyed by the Coordinator of the Legal, Prevention, Community Participation and Public Relations Division (HP2H) of Bawaslu Takalar, Zahlul Fadil for the incident, his party certainly emphasized that ASN must maintain neutrality.

"We have maximized prevention through appeals to ASN, TNI and Polri to maintain their neutrality. We hope that all parties support neutrality so that democratic constituents run safely, overflowing and jurdil," he said.

Previously, the Regional Secretary of the Takalar Hasbi Regency Government represented the Acting Regent of Takalar Setiawan Aswad to open a Teacher's Rembuk event at the local Regional Museum. Also present were officials from the Takalar Education and Culture Office along with their devices including school principals and ASN and non-ASN teachers in Takalar Regency on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

In the video, Hasbi mentions spending on teacher recitation, namely Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK), however, he conveyed that those who have not been raised apologize for the appointment of CPNS this year.

"Pak Jokowi has promised, if his son (Cawapres Gibran Rakabuming Raka) wins, the program for the appointment of civil servants, millions will be continued. That must be appreciated. We need the appointment of CPNS. These teachers are lacking. But, we also don't want to burden the APBD. We want the central budget to be added to pay PPPK," he said in the recording.
