Bawaslu Still Handling Cases Of Dozens Of Garut Satpol PP Members Make Content Support Gibran

GARUT - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Garut Regency, West Java stated that the perpetrators of making non-neutral videos of the Garut Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) who supported the vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka increased by one to 14 people.

Commissioner of the Prevention, Participation and Public Relations Division of Garut Regency, Lamlam Masropah, said the new perpetrator was a member of the Satpol PP who played a role in recording the activities of his fellow colleagues in expressing support for the vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"Similarly, Satpol PP too, he is part of the video 'take'," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 11.

He said the new perpetrator was known based on the results of the development of clarification on the first day, the number of perpetrators was not 13 as in the video, but 14 people with the people who recorded it.

"The one who recorded the development video from the results of the clarification on the first day," said Lamlam.

Garut Bawaslu has carried out the search stage and then discussed at the Garut Integrated Law Enforcement Center (Gakkumdu) in handling the video case of Garut Satpol PP members who provide support for Vice Presidential Candidate number 2.

After discussing with the Gakkumdu Center, he said, Bawaslu Garut then made a summons to examine all 14 members of the Garut Satpol PP which were scheduled in stages until Monday (15/1).

"Yes, that's right, it's still continuing, we are still focused on clarifying until Monday," he said.

Garut Bawaslu conducted a gradual examination of members of the Garut Satpol PP, the first phase carried out on Wednesday (10/1) had examined five people.

Furthermore, today's examination was carried out on five members of the Garut Satpol PP, and finally examined four people about the neutrality of the election and also the purpose of making the video.

"Tomorrow from the beginning there were three, possibly four people (checked)," he said.

The results of the interim examination of members of the Garut Satpol PP are still about making videos, while the perpetrators who spread the video cannot be known.

"What is spreading is not yet known," he said.

Previously, the Garut Bawaslu conveyed the results of the decision with the Gakkumdu Center for the perpetrators of making the video allegedly on two articles, namely Article 280 (3) in conjunction with Article 494 and Article 283 of Law 7/2017 concerning Elections with the threat of imprisonment of 1 year and a fine of IDR 12 million.

The 19-second video shows a number of members of the Garut Satpol PP stating that they support the Gibran vice presidential candidate spread across a number of social media and WhatsApp Groups of the Garut community.
