Police Raid Traditional Alcohol Factory In Wakatobi

The Wakatobi Resort Police (Polres), the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda) conducted a raid on a traditional liquor factory in Wungka Village, Wangiwangi District, Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.

Head of the Wakatobi Police Regulation, Guards, and Patrol Unit (Turjawali), Bripka La Ode Abdul Ramadhan, said that during the raid on the liquor factory, his party confiscated 200 liters of wine.

"We found about 200 liters of wine in that place," said Abdul Ramadhan as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 9.

He said the raids stemmed from information from the public who reported that it was related to the distillation of wine-type liquor that emitted an unpleasant aroma, so they were greatly disturbed by this activity, at 22.00 WITA.

Armed with this information, his party then dispatched a patrol team to conduct an investigation and in the end, a raid was successfully carried out by finding a number of evidence related to the manufacture of traditional liquor in that place.

"Evidence that was secured included fermented raw materials ready to use for 200 liters of traditional liquor, and at that time they were immediately destroyed at that location," he said.

The police found two jerry cans of wine with a total of 40 liters, two pots, and one funnel and the filter.

The evidence was immediately secured by the Turjawali Patrol Team of the Wakatobi Police Samapta Unit for further legal proceedings. Meanwhile, the owner of the factory is still under investigation by the Wakatobi Police Sat Reskrim team.

"The owner of a home factory in the traditional type of wine industry is still under investigation, while the raid activities are running safely and conducive," he said.
