Alexander Marwata Cancels Witness Relieves Firli Bahuri At Bareskrim Today

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata canceled his questioning as a mitigating witness for the suspect Firli Bahuri in the alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL, at Bareskrim Polri, today.

Karo Penmas, Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, said that the postponement of the examination was due to Alexander Marwata's having to testify at the pretrial hearing at the South Jakarta District Court.

"Tidak jadi dilaksanakan (pemeriksaan) karena pagi atau siang ini Pak AM itu diajukan oleh saudara FB menjadi saksi dan hadir dalam sidang pretrial di Pengadilan Negeri Jakarta Selatan," ujar Ramadhan saat dikonfirmasi, Kamis, 14 Desember.

Currently, it is not certain about the time of the re-examination of Alexander Marwata. This is because the joint investigation team will only reconnect the matter.

"So it will be communicated again later with the person concerned, this is called as a witness. It will be communicated again whether tomorrow or the day after tomorrow it will be notified," said Ramadhan.

As previously reported, Alexander Marwata will be questioned as a witness in the alleged extortion case against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL, at Bareskrim Polri, today. The examination of him was a request from Firli Bahuri who was a suspect.

"(The Alexander Marwata examination) was at the request of Mr. FB," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan.

With the request for an examination, it is possible that Alexander Marwata will witness the mitigation for Firli Bahuri.

The examination of Alexander Marwata is planned to take place around 10:00 WIB.

However, Alexander Marwata has not been able to confirm whether he will fulfill the summons for examination or not. Meanwhile, investigators did not set the time for taking his statement.

With no time provisions, Alex said the examination process could be at any time. In addition, it does not have to be done at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

In fact, it is possible that information collection activities will be postponed.

Alex Marwata is known to be present at Firli Bahuri's pretrial hearing. He became a fact witness for the inactive KPK chairman.

"I'll see what the agenda is this afternoon at the office. If there is another agenda, of course I just ask to postpone it, if it's not there, if I'm not tired, I'll come to the Criminal Investigation Unit or Bareskrim investigators to the office," said Alex.
