West Sumbawa Police Chief AKBP Yasmara Harahap said the confiscation of hundreds of bottles of alcoholic beverages was the result of the routine activity of the Poto Tano Port Area Police Team.

"The activity took place this dawn. The results of routine activities were increased by members of the port area police. Hundreds of bottles containing alcoholic beverages were secured," Yasmara said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 28.

His party carried out this in a series of police activities to create a security and public order situation (kamtibmas) during the 2024 election contestation.

"So, this increased routine activity is carried out to anticipate disturbances in the security and social order. We all know that the circulation of alcoholic beverages is one of the trigger factors for criminal acts. That's why the supervision of the circulation is the attention of the police," he said.

From the confiscation, it was recorded that 504 bottles of alcoholic beverages consisted of 384 bottles of wine and 120 bottles of alcoholic beverages with red berets.

"The wine is bottled with a measure of (600 milliliters) of responsibility. The one with a large bottle size is (1,500 milliliters)," he said.

Hundreds of bottles of alcoholic beverages were found from the results of inspection of luggage on public transport buses.

"The goods are stored in the trunk of the bus. There are nine sacks. Four sacks are filled with wine, the rest is beer," he said.

From the bus driver's statement, the goods came from Badung Regency, Bali, and are planned to be deployed in Dompu Regency and Bima Regency.

With the confiscation of alcoholic beverages, Yasmara said he had ordered the Poto Tano Port Area Police Team to coordinate with the West Sumbawa Police Narcotics Investigation Unit.

"The confiscated goods are still being secured at the Poto Tano Port Area Police Office. I ask for the handling to be followed up by drug friends (West Sumbawa Police Narcotics Unit)," said Yasmara.
