KPU Asks Election Participants To Have Written Permit To Install Campaign Billboards

SIMPANG FOUR - The General Election Commission of West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra, emphasized that 2024 election participants are required to submit written permission from the owner of the venue for the installation of campaign props outside the zone or location set by the KPU during the campaign period.

"The 2024 election campaign period has started today. Election participants can carry out face-to-face campaigns and install campaign props," said West Pasaman KPU member of the Socialization Division, Voter Education, Community Participation and Human Resources Hafizul Pahmi quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday 28 November.

He explained that his institution had issued KPU Decree Number 343 of 2023 concerning the determination of the location for the installation of the 2024 General Election campaign props.

If there are election participants who install the APK outside the set location, they are required to report in writing the permit from the place owner. If it is not reported, it will violate and can be brought under control by the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu).

"Regarding this, we have conveyed to the election participants long ago so that it can be obeyed in an orderly manner during the campaign period," he said.

Hafizul said there were 548 locations for the installation of the APK spread over 11 sub-districts and 90 villages (regional villages) in West Pasaman.

In the KPU's decree, it was also emphasized that it was forbidden to install APKs in a number of locations, including places of worship, fences and walls, hospitals or health services, as well as places of education or campuses.

Then in government-owned buildings, certain government-owned facilities and other facilities that can disrupt public order.

"Hopefully this will be a concern for all election participants during the campaign period starting from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024," he said.

Hafizul added that the KPU did not limit face-to-face campaign activities during the campaign period, but that election participants had to report their activities to the police.
