Two iron thieves covering the waterways in Menteng, Central Jakarta

JAKARTA - Two youths were caught on CCTV cameras stealing an iron culling covering a water channel in front of a hotel, Menteng area, Central Jakarta, Friday, October 20, early in the morning.

In the CCTV footage, the two thieves acted using a bajaj. It is strongly suspected that the perpetrator is a gang of specialists in iron goal theft covering the canal. There are more than two perpetrators.

"The incident took place in front of the Zia Sanno Hotel, Jalan Pegangsaan Barat, Menteng. The incident occurred at around 04.00 WIB and the action was caught on CCTV, the perpetrator's face was clearly recorded," said Firman, one of the residents around the location to reporters, Friday, October 20.

Meanwhile, Firman believes that there are more than two perpetrators. Because they act using a Bajaj type public vehicle.

"I think they are used to stealing. The perpetrators are about 3 people, two of whom are in charge of picking up iron and one is the Bajaj driver," he said.

Dozens of iron covering water ropes or grips in the Menteng and Senen sub-districts, were stolen by thieves on Tuesday, August 15. As a result, a lot of garbage entered the channel.

From the observations of journalists at the location, many of the iron covers or pillars were lost, such as in the Regional Strategic Area (KSD) of the Governor of DKI Jakarta on Jalan Cikini Raya, Raden Saleh and Jalan Kramat Raya.
