Plt Ketum PPP Affirms Again Sandiaga Deserves To Accompany Ganjar, But Claims Are Not A Pragmatic Calculation

PADANG - Acting (Plt) General Chairperson of PPP Muhamad Mardiono ensured that the party bearing the Kaaba symbol would not take pragmatic politics related to the determination of the 2024 vice presidential candidate (cawapres).

"PPP will present the best cadres in the context of continuity of the struggle, not just a pragmatic calculation," said Acting Chairman of PPP Muhamad Mardiono in Padang as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 9.

This was conveyed by Mardiono when asked about the opportunity for Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno to be paired with Ganjar Pranowo in the face of the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

According to him, if it prioritizes pragmatic politics, then it is possible for PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri to nominate her own cadres in pairs with Ganjar. Because, in political terms, only the party bearing the white-nosed bull logo can carry the presidential and vice presidential candidates.

Likewise, he continued, if PPP prioritizes such a perspective, then what is proposed to run in the 2024 presidential election is the general chairman, not other cadres. However, his party emphasized that the party did not prioritize or use pragmatic politics.

"We take into account from all aspects and finally the PPP decided that it was appropriate to accompany Pak Ganjar Pranowo, namely Pak Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno," he explained.

Mardiono also reiterated that the joining of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy to PPP was not for the pragmatic political interests. However, the former Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta is considered worthy of being paired with Ganjar.

The politician who was born on July 11, 1957, assessed that Ganjar and Sandiaga are a couple who can answer the nation's challenges in the future. The reason is that Ganjar is considered successful in leading Central Java as governor for two terms and his experience at Senayan.

On the one hand, Mardiono said the party he leads continues to communicate and strives for Sandiaga to pair up with Ganjar Pranowo. Moreover, until now there has been no stipulation from the PDI-P as the party that carried the former Governor of Central Java.

"Before the yellow janur stood, everything was still possible. So, I don't want to make assumptions, but God willing, we are Istiqomah fighting for Pak Sandi," he continued.
