SemarANG - Semarang Mayor Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu ensures that the stock of clean water in the area remains safe despite facing the long dry season as a result of the El Nino phenomenon.

"God willing, I will still fulfill it until December," said Ita, Hevearita's nickname in Semarang as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 9.

Ita has also conducted a review of the Reservoir of the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) Tirta Moedal Semarang City in Kelud to check the availability of clean water during the dry season.

From the Semarang City PDAM report, the risky supply is in the Kudu Water Processing Installation (IPA), which supplies the Rowosari and Meteseh areas, because the raw water source from Kedungombo must be pumped.

"Until now, God willing, it will still be fulfilled. Even if later there are less than 5-10 percent, that's what's there (Kudu). But the north, middle, south, west, God willing, is safe," he said.

He admitted that several areas had been affected by drought, such as Jabungan, Rowosari, and Gondoriyo. Before being affected by El Ninopun, he said, there was already a shortage of water in the area.

"But God willing, in these areas, around September there was Pamsiman assistance (Prevision of Community-Based Drinking Water and Sanitation) in six places, including Wonoplumbon, Rowosari, Jabungan, and Gondoriyo," he said.

He hopes that Pamsimas can help residents who have had difficulty accessing clean water. Meanwhile, the Semarang City PDAM also helps supply clean water needs.

The lack of clean water, he said, was also caused by residents in these areas who did not want to use PDAM's clean water services.

"For connection (PDAM) it is possible, there is only resistance from residents. Maybe they don't understand. Actually, if the connection can enter the area there will be no shortage (of clean water)," he said.

Therefore, Ita asked for immediate mapping in these areas, which so far have not entered the PDAM pipeline through the role of the village head and sub-district head.

"They (citizens) are currently wearing wells, yes, artetis. Actually, friends (PDAM) are ready to supply water because until now these areas are still overproduced," said Ita.
