JAKARTA - The militant militia, Rapid Support Troops (RSF), are accused of being the perpetrators of the attack on a hospital in Sudan. As a result of the attack, five people reportedly died.

The accusations were made by the Sudanese military on Saturday, July 15, local time. The military also said that 22 people were injured in the incident

"Continuing to violate international humanitarian law and all war norms, rebel militias attacked the emergency room of a military hospital in Omdurman with drones today, killing five patients and injuring 22 others, most civilians," the military said in a statement.

It was also stated that the hospital in the most populous city near the capital Khartoum served civilians and the military. The place was previously often targeted for RSF attacks.

As reported by Anadolu via Antara, the Sudanese military and RSF have been involved in armed conflict since April which has killed about 3,000 civilians and injured thousands of others, according to the local medical team.

Various ceasefires, mediated by Saudi Arabia and the United States, failed to end violence in the country.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimates that nearly 3 million people have been displaced by the conflict.

Last week, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the conflict in Sudan could lead to civil war.
