CHINA - A total of 6,364 Chinese citizens died from COVID-19 attacks in seven days on 20-26 January 2023. According to data from China's Centers for Control and Prevention of Infectious Diseases (CCDC) released in Beijing, the death data decreased when compared to the January 13-19 period which reached 12,658 cases.

Quoting Antara's report, Sunday, January 29, of the 6,364 cases of COVID-19 deaths while being treated at the hospital, 289 cases were due to respiratory system failure and the remaining 6,075 cases had congenital diseases.

The last three years of COVID attacks have killed around 80,000 Chinese citizens.

Chinese authorities have determined cases of COVID-19 deaths based on positive PCR test results according to World Health Organization (WHO) standards and other international institutions.

On Thursday, January 26, there were 215,958 people hospitalized for COVID, including 26,156 in severe condition.

China's National Health Commission (NHC) on December 25, 2022 decided to stop publication of the development of COVID data. Several countries responded to the policy by taking action to limit the arrival of Chinese citizens.

WHO understands the attitude of some of these countries and urges China to be transparent regarding the development of COVID data. The NHC as China's health authority ordered the CCDC to submit periodic reports on data on the development of COVID.
