JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that the potential for storms in the Jabodetabek area on December 28, 2022 was small.

"Based on the BMKG weather forecast on December 28, 2022, generally rain with moderate to heavy intensity. But not a storm!" said BMKG Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto in an online press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 27.

Upon the weather forecast, he appealed to the public to remain calm and continue to update information through the official BMKG channels.

Guswanto added that the public is also advised to remain vigilant against all potential hydrometeorological disasters at the end of the year.

"BMKG urges the public to be aware of the impact of this potential extreme weather, namely the potential for hydrometeorological disasters," he said.

On the same occasion, the Head of the BMKG Public Meteorology Center, Fachri Radjab said rain with moderate to heavy intensity and even very heavy still has the potential to occur until early January 2023.

He added that an increase in rainfall with heavy to very heavy intensity has the potential to occur on December 30, 2022.

Regarding storms, he explained, according to meteorological terminology, heavy rains and strong winds are usually associated with tropical cyclones or strong winds that accompany bad weather with a speed of around 64-72 knots.

He hopes that the public will have the same view regarding the term of the storm.

Previously, it was reported that one of the researchers explained the potential for extreme rain to severe storms to occur on December 28, 2022. This has made a number of people worried about the disaster.
