JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives Andi Rio Idris Padjalangi asked the National Police to improve coordination, especially with the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) in eradicating land mafia.

“The National Police must continue to coordinate and communicate with the Ministry of ATR/BPN in charge of this issue. This is to facilitate access and the process of investigating the findings of land cases in various areas," said Andi Rio in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 20.

However, he appreciated the Polda Metro Jaya who had succeeded in uncovering the modus operandi of the land mafia, which allegedly involved elements of the Ministry of ATR/BPN.

According to him, the Ministry of ATR/BPN is the determining factor in the land mafia case, so the National Police must investigate deeply the involvement of elements in ATR/BPN who carry out a structured mode.

"Hopefully the Police can continue to uncover cases of land mafia throughout Indonesia. This incident must be used as an initial 'entrance' for the National Police in eradicating the land mafia in Indonesia, according to President Jokowi's expectations and directions," he said.

The Deputy Chairperson of the DPR's Honorary Court (MKD) hopes that the public will not be easily persuaded by unscrupulous persons or parties who offer land certificate management services easily and quickly, so that it does not become a problem in the future.

Andi said the government had facilitated the management of land ownership certificates by digital means.

"People should use official channels so as not to be deceived or misused data on community land ownership certificates," he said.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya arrested 30 suspects in the land mafia case.

Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol. Hengki Haryadi, said that of the 30 suspects, 25 of them had been detained.

"We have determined 30 suspects at this time," said Hengki Haryadi in Jakarta, Monday, July 18.

Hengki explained that the 30 suspects consisted of 13 employees of the National Land Agency (Bapan) office and two of them were State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

Furthermore, the two suspects are the Village Head, a suspect in banking services, and 12 other people are civilians.
