Urged By The DPRD To Build A Fire Post, DKI Gulkarmat Service: We Have Submitted A Budget, The Acc Is The Council
Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency, Satriadi Gunawan, responded to the pressure from the DKI Jakarta DPRD to increase the number of fire stations in Jakarta.
As is known, the current number of fire posts is 170 buildings. Ideally, each sub-district in Jakarta has at least one fire post. It is recorded that Jakarta has 267 urban villages.
Satriadi admitted that his party had proposed a budget for the construction of fire stations since several years ago. However, until this year, the DPRD has not approved the budget proposal.
"We have submitted it. What is acc in the council, not in me. The budgeting rights are in the council," Satriadi told reporters, Tuesday, February 4.
In fact, according to Satriadi, the main point of the performance of firefighters (damkar) is speed in tackling fires (respons time) after receiving reports of events from the public.
"The more our fire posts, the faster the response, especially since the City of Jakarta is jammed and all kinds of things. So, with the deployment post, I am sure we can withstand the frequency of fires and losses," explained Satriadi.
Not only that, but Satriadi also admitted that so far the number of firefighters is still far from ideal. The DKI Gulkarmat Service only has 3,700 officers out of the 11,000 personnel mandated in regional regulations.
Unfortunately, the addition of firefighters has not yet been approved. "It was 3 years ago that I proposed it. However, there is no policy for addition," he said.
Meanwhile, Satriadi acknowledged, the budget composition of the DKI Gulkarmat Service this year is mostly used for personnel expenditures, such as salary payments to operations.
Previously, a member of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, William Aditya Sarana, urged the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to immediately use the budget allocation of the DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Service to build fire stations.
"This is a big problem. This means that there are several areas that have not been reached by the fire department properly. The provincial government must pay attention here and again intensify the construction of fire stations," said William Friday, January 24.
According to William, the DKI Provincial Government must ensure the budget provided for fire prevention. Given, from the number of fire cases in early 2025, the public will increasingly demand the safety of fires in Jakarta.

"The amount of money budgeted for yesterday is not small. It should be the capital to increase community preparedness, especially through firefighters to anticipate and deal with fires," he explained.
