NASA Updates Roadmap For Moon Exploration Mission To Mars

JAKARTA After exploring the Moon, NASA will prepare to continue exploration of Mars. Although the human landing on the Moon has not yet occurred, NASA has made a blueprint for exploration.

The US space agency announced that it had released documents to update the Moon's architecture to Mars. This document is a roadmap that will serve as a long-term exploration reference under the Artemis program.

NASA will focus on exploration on the Moon for a long time while preparing a manned mission to Mars. Not only does it contain roadmaps, this document also contains a revised NASA Architecture Definition.

In NASA's Architecture Definition document, the space agency describes the agency's approach and technical process of agency exploration plans, executive summary, and two of the latest white books with the main topic of the Moon to Mars.

NASA's Architecture Concept Review Process is critical to leading us to the human mission path to Mars, said NASA Association Administrator Jim Free. We are taking a methodical approach to map out the decisions we need to make."

Free also explained that the latest document regarding the roadmap from the Moon to Mars was made based on an understanding of resource and technology trade. NASA has also heard input from stakeholders in drafting concepts.

This input comes from industries in the US, academics, international partners, to workers at NASA. Of the many considerations, NASA decided to use fission power as the main source to support astronauts on the surface of Mars.

Fission is a nuclear power that is not affected by the day and night cycles on the surface of Mars. This technology is also free from the potential for dust storms that are usually dangerous for humans and all rides that are not well protected.

NASA has also decided that the lunar surface cargo lander vehicle will be part of the Moon's architecture to Mars. Later, this vehicle will send logistical goods, scientific and technological content, communication systems, and much more.
