The chairman of the DPD PDI Perjuangan Sultra, Lukman Abunawas said their support for Puan was to either run as president or vice president.

Abunawas said that as a fellow party cadre, he would support Puan Maharani when she ran for the next presidential election.
"This means, as a party, we are obliged to support and adjust. If the PDI-P DPP has directed him, for example, to run as a presidential candidate, it means that we automatically adjust in the DPD structurally," he said.
According to him, support for Puan to run in the 2024 presidential election, has been agreed by cadres and administrators of the PDI-P in Southeast Sulawesi, starting from the DPD, DPC, to sub-branches.
