JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran asked his staff to help the community during the Eid al-Adha celebration which falls on Tuesday, July 20. Members are asked to participate in distributing the sacrificial meat door to door.

This statement was conveyed by the Metro Jaya Police Chief when he led the gathering of troops ahead of Eid al-Adha.

"If there are people who need help and services on this Eid takbiran night, we are ready to help and serve them. If there are people who want to distribute meat, we go down to help with door to door distribution," Fadil said to his staff at Polda Metro Jaya, Monday , July 19.

In addition, Inspector General Fadil also reminded his staff to continue patrolling to prevent people from moving, especially during takbir nights.

If a violation is later found, the patrol officer must put forward a warning. In fact, it must be in a humane way.

"In carrying out the patrol, I expect members to act with compassion and full of humanism as servants, protectors and friends during the pandemic," he said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked all mosque managers in DKI Jakarta not to hold Eid prayers. This is in line with the implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Limitation (PPKM) policy.

"I ask the lurah, subdistrict head, Babinsa, and the police chief to ask the mosque to temporarily cancel the Eid prayer," he said at Monas, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Sunday, July 18.

Anies appealed for Eid prayer activities to be carried out at their respective homes as in 2020.

"We urge all organizers to hold Eid prayers in their respective homes as we did last year. With that, God willing, all will be protected (from COVID-19)," he said.

Anies said that his party had conducted socialization to mosque managers regarding this matter. In total, more than 3,000 mosques were given socialization not to hold Eid prayers.

"There are still 245 mosques that will be socialized so that there will be no Eid prayers," he said.
