JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Chairman of the PDI-P DPP Puan Maharani are scheduled to meet on Sunday (18/6) morning in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Senayan, Jakarta.

Secretary General of the DPP Democratic Party Teuku Riefky Harsya said the meeting of Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) with Puan was an important momentum for the nation's future which was based on the political spirit of reconciliation.

"This meeting is an important momentum for the future of the nation, especially democracy in Indonesia. The good intentions of the two young leaders are certainly based on the political spirit of reconciliation, which will start a new chapter for the presence of synergy, collaboration, and mutual cooperation among fellow nation's children," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, June 17.

Riefky believes that the AHY and Puan meeting will set a good example for the younger generation, as well as be a breath of fresh air for the future of politics in the country.

In addition, continued Riefky, the meeting was also based on political ethics and mutual respect for the political position of the two parties regarding the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

"Even though we are currently in different coalition positions, we also realize that this meeting can be a strong foundation to prevent divisions and clashes between fellow nation's children in the face of the 2024 General Election," he said.

Riefky said the Democratic Party and the PDI-P were two major, sovereign and independent parties. Both parties have also experience, both inside and outside the government.

"We have both been the party that won the election, experienced in managing the government and as an opposition party. We have complete experience," he added.

Therefore, Riefky said that the AHY and Puan meeting would not only discuss practical political agendas, but also more comprehensive national issues.

"The partnership and cooperation between PDIP and the Democratic Party in the future is expected to be wider and reach a more fundamental national agenda," he said.

He hopes that the 2024 General Election can run openly, honestly, fairly, and democratically. For this reason, Riefky also appealed to all political actors involved to commit to maintaining national unity and integrity.

"With good intentions and goals, the meeting of Mas AHY and Mbak Puan, God willing, will produce good results," said Riefky.
