Police officers arrested a man who abused his own mother with an iron screwdriver in Palembang City, South Sumatra.

West Ilir 1 Palembang Police Chief Kompol Ginanjar Aliya Sukmana, said the perpetrator with the initials MSP (18), a resident of Jalan Sultan M. Mansyur, Palembang.

The MSP perpetrator was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Ilir Barat I Sector Police almost without a fight last night at around 19.00 WIB.

"The arrest was made after the police previously received a report in question (MSP) molesting their own mother with a screwdriver and requiring medical treatment," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 15.

Currently, MSP has been secured in the detention room of the Ilir Barat 1 Sector Police for investigation purposes.

According to him, the perpetrator was angry because she was not given money by her mother with the initials MLN (40).

Then, the perpetrator's anger peaked because based on the police investigation he was under the influence of methamphetamine.

"The victim's neck was strangled, then his right arm was stabbed using a screwdriver many times until he was seriously injured and undergoing medical treatment," he said.

Based on information from witnesses the day before, the perpetrator hit the victim's right palm with an iron hammer.

However, the victim admitted that she was still trying hard to accept the treatment of her second son, so she decided to keep it a secret from other families.

"Well, because the methamphetamine perpetrators were acting up again, fortunately there were families who saw the treatment and reported it to the police for safekeeping, otherwise it could end fatally," he said.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with violating Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution with the threat of imprisonment for five years.
