SURABAYA - Head of the Surabaya City DPRD, East Java highlighted the health services at the Soewandhie Blood General Hospital (RSUD) which seemed not optimal in providing medical treatment.

"The safety of citizens must be the main thing, whoever it is," said Deputy Chairman of the Surabaya City DPRD, Reni Astuti, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 1.

According to Reni, his party received reports from residents via whatsapp (WA) regarding the critical situation of a patient regarding hospital service complaints that seemed not optimal in providing medical treatment.

This was experienced by a mother, Asiasi (52), a resident of Kewall River Land. This condition requires her to enter the ICU. However, this could not be done because the hospital stated that the ICU room was full.

This situation has been experienced by patients since coming to the hospital on Saturday (27/5). The patient had to wait up to three days in the ER before finally entering the treatment room on Monday (29/5) because he was in line.

Knowing the patient's difficult situation, Reni then went to the hospital and directly confirmed the patient's family condition.

Upon arrival at the hospital, he received confirmation from the hospital that an empty ICU room was available for patients to enter. But the unfortunate fate was experienced, the patient's life could not be saved before the hospital managed to move to the ICU.

Following the news of the patient's death, Reni also deeply regretted the handling of hospitals amid the interest of patients who needed immediate action.

"Of course, no one expects a difficult situation like this, but imagine if those who experience it are our mothers, our families, our brothers," he said.

With these findings, Reni continued, it is practically in the spotlight for the people's representatives, especially regarding standard hospital services in medical treatment when queues occur in the ICU.

"There are many patients in Soewandhie Hospital, for efforts to improve services, as well as improve quality, as well as innovation in health services, especially in outpatient care, I appreciate. But for this case it also needs to be evaluated," he said.

Reni said this hospitalization service was an evaluation because if the hospital saw the interest experienced then how the solution provided referrals or transferred to other health facilities for medical treatment.

Reni understands that death is also part of God's destiny. Even so, the effort of every human being to do their best through access to public health services is also another matter that is needed.

Therefore, he said, if the RSUD often experiences similar conditions, then for him, connection and integration of health services from one hospital to another requires integration and service connections.

"In the current era, the integration of health services between hospitals has become a necessity, I ask the director of the Soewandhie Hospital to pay attention to this," he said.

It appears that while at the hospital, Reni continues to strengthen the patient's family by inviting the parents' daughters to do dhikr while singing the holy verses of the Koran.

For this incident, he also felt the sadness that enveloped the family while conveying deep condolences.

"We offered our condolences and asked for prayers so that the bereaved family can be given fortitude and strength as well," said Reni.
