JAKARTA - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) said the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur received complaints from four Indonesian citizens suspected of being employed at online gambling companies or being victims of online fraud.

"Since the complaint, the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has coordinated with the Indonesian Consulate General in Penang to handle the cases that befell the four Indonesian citizens," said the Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Legal Entities (PWNI-BHI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 26.

In the coordination, they also found the fact that several other Indonesian citizens were known to be victims.

Hingga kini, diperkirakan terdapat 30 WNI yang terlibat dalam persoalan judionline atau menjadi korban penipuan daring di Peninsular Malaysia, termasuk seorang terduga pelaku yang sedang menjalani proses hukum.

The Indonesian Embassy received information that several Indonesian citizens were also subject to immigration violations and are currently in Immigration Detention. The majority of Indonesian citizens come from Jambi Province.

Indonesian citizens who are witnesses to victims currently live in various protective houses scattered on the Peninsular Malaysia.

The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Indonesian Consulate General in Johor Bahru, said Judha, will seek consular access to meet Indonesian citizens who are in the Malacca Protection House.

The case involving Indonesian citizens working for online gambling companies is handled jointly by three Indonesian Representatives on the Peninsular Malaysia.

"The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the Indonesian Consulate General in Penang and the Indonesian Consulate General in Johor Bahru always coordinate with local authorities in ensuring that Indonesian citizens receive protection according to applicable procedures," said Judha.
