JAKARTA - China has launched retaliatory charges against G7 members as the most powerful developed countries that violate and undermine international rules.

"When asking China to obey international rules, the G7 itself violated and damaged the rules," said Chinese Foreign Ministry (MFA) spokesman Wang Wenbin as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 11.

The G7 Summit scheduled in Japan will urge China to obey international rules.

"Before discussing international rules, we must first make sure what international rules are," he said at a regular press briefing in Beijing.

When the G7 mentions international rules, Wang continued, what they mean is Western countries' rules.

He said the United States had ignored 17 international deals, including deals with UNESCO and the Paris Agreement.

"The US has been spying on countries globally indiscriminately, including its allies in the G7, powerful-armed countries, economically forcing, and military interference. The US has openly invaded Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria as well as other smaller and weaker countries than the US, killing and displacing tens of millions of innocent civilians," Wang said.

He urged the US and Japan as members of the G7 to immediately pay off dues in the United Nations before talking about international rules.

"The US must withdraw troops occupying Syria illegally, Japan does not insist on disposing of nuclearly contaminated liquid waste into the sea, stop inciting divisions and confrontations, and stop using international rules for its own benefit," he said.

The G7 Summit will be held in Hiroshima, Japan, for three days starting May 21.

Heads of state or heads of government from seven member countries, namely Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Britain, the United States, and Japan as the host will attend the high-level meeting.

President Joko Widodo also received an invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to attend the G7 Summit in Hiroshima.
