JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) held a narcotics urine examination on bus drivers at Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Ciracas District, East Jakarta on Tuesday, April 18.

This narcotics urine examination also involved the deployment of the BNN K9 Unit to track the presence of narcotics in a number of passenger luggage at the Kampung Rambutan Terminal.

Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau of BNN RI, Brigadier General Sulistyo Pudjo Hartono, said that the deployment of K9 dogs or sniffer dogs is intended so that there is no circulation of narcotics that utilizes homecoming and backflow during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2023.

"As a result, while no narcotics have been found yet, we hope it doesn't exist. But if there is, we will take firm action," said Brigadier General Pudjo to VOI at Kampung Rambutan Terminal, East Jakarta, Tuesday, April 18.

Brigadier General Pudjo explained that the deployment of sniffer dogs was carried out because in previous years drug abuse and smuggling had been found through bus terminals. However, Brigadier General Pudjo was reluctant to provide a detailed explanation of where the location of the terminal in question was.

"In the previous year there had been. Several times there were also drivers who used drugs, we always found them throughout Indonesia. It was also found that someone was carrying drugs but in small quantities," he said.

Anticipating and preventing recurring incidents, BNN again deployed sniffer dogs to detect narcotics smuggling and in anticipation of prevention.

"Therefore, we check passengers so that drug trafficking takes advantage of the homecoming flow and the backflow of Ramadan," he said.
