2 Students Who Trigger Clashes In Action To Reject Job Creation Law In Ambon Threatened 7 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - Two unscrupulous students who are suspected of instigating the mobs committing violence during a demonstration against the Job Creation Law in Ambon face up to 7 years in prison.

"The suspects MR (23) and HS (25) were suspected of violating Article 214 of the Criminal Code after investigators from the Ambon Island and Lease Islands Police conducted a case title," said Head of Public Relations of the Regional Police, Ipda Isack Leatemia in Ambon, reported by Antara , Wednesday. Two unscrupulous students at one of the universities in Maluku were also charged with violating Article 160 of the Criminal Code, which carries a sentence of 6 years in prison, and violating Article 212 of the Criminal Code with the threat of a sentence of 1 year.

Initially the suspects MR and HS along with 11 other people were arrested by the police when anarchist action took place in a demonstration against the Job Creation Law in the Poka area, Teluk Ambon District, Monday, October 12.

According to him, MR and HS were appointed as suspects after investigators found sufficient preliminary evidence regarding their involvement as the instigator of the clash.

Currently the two suspects have been detained at the Ambon Island Police detention center, while 11 other fellow students have been sent back to their respective families because they were not proven to have triggered the clash and attacked the police.

Student demonstrations in Ambon City occurred simultaneously at several points, such as the Maluku Governor's Office, the Maluku Provincial DPRD Office, Jembatan Merah Putih and in front of Ambon's Pattimura University (Unpatti).

The police then detained 13 students in two different locations after the clash, causing a number of people to be injured and treated at Bhayangkara Hospital.
