JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing (PUPR) is trying to realize the target for the construction of the Sei Alalak bridge in Banjarmasin to be completed on time in September 2021. This is based on the project work stage which has now reached 90.3 percent.
Minister of PUPR, Basuki Hadimuljono, said that the existence of the 850-meter bridge in South Kalimantan is expected to support regional economic activities and the welfare of the local community.
“The existence of the Trans Kalimantan Road with this bridge facility will increase the economic growth of the surrounding area where the road passes through plantation areas such as oil palm, rubber, and mining. So it will speed up logistics transportation", he said as reported by the official website, Friday, July 16.
On the same occasion, the Head of the South Kalimantan National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN), Syauqi Kamal, said that currently the foundation work and the approach bridge are in the form of a pile slab structure that has been completely completed.
"In the rest of the work implementation period this year, we focus on completing structural work on the main span of the bridge, access road, and frontage work, as well as other minor works. The physical work implementation period will end on September 15, 2021, with a maintenance period of 2 years", he said.
Syauqi added that before the Sei Alalak Bridge was put into operation, the bridge's functionality and feasibility tests would be carried out to ensure safety conditions so that vehicles could pass.
