JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is said to be building two speed boats that have high maneuverability and speed. The pair of boats is planned to complete the KKP's task of hunting down lobster smugglers and fish bombers.

Plt. Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision of the KKP Antam Novambar said the effort was proof of the government's seriousness in overseeing the ban on the export of lobster clear seeds and eradicating destructive fishing practices.

"Currently we are preparing two new high-speed speed boats that will strengthen the surveillance fleet," he said.

According to Antam, the latest fleet is made of aluminum alloy and hard tube polyurea fenders and the speed reaches 55 knots. The speed boat has the advantage of maneuvering and pursuing.

"This is to match the speed of lobster smugglers and fish bombers," he said.

On the same occasion, KKP Fleet Monitoring and Operations Director Pung Nugroho Saksono said that the shipbuilding process is expected to be completed by the end of November 2021. The speed boat construction itself is carried out at PT Palindo Marine Batam.

"We project that this November can be used," he explained.

For information, the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, emphasized the prohibition on the export of lobster clear seeds through the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Regulation Number 17 of 2021 concerning Management of Lobster, Crab and Crab in the Territory of the Republic of Indonesia.

To strengthen the policy, Minister Trenggono then increased the commitment to monitoring infrastructure by increasing the number of fleets, as well as increasing the use of technology by monitoring through air surveillance and satellite technology.
