JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo conducted a groundbreaking of the Bank Mandiri Office in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), on Thursday 29 February 2024.

Jokowi said the groundbreaking marks important steps in the development of digital infrastructure and services in the new capital city of Indonesia and also appreciates Bank Mandiri as one of the banks that build offices with the concept of Digital Services that can serve the community.

"I am happy that Bank Mandiri will soon start the construction of a special office for Digital Services. Because I know Livin' by Mandiri has 23 million (users), it is very big," said Jokowi when giving a speech at the Groundbreaking Mandiri Digital Services event at IKN, Thursday, February 29.

Jokowi hopes that in the future this can continue to develop and participate in encouraging the expansion of the digital ecosystem in the country.

"My show will also be that if the digital ecosystem here has been built, it will bring in a digital nomad in our archipelago, this city will be different from other cities in the world," he said.

Meanwhile, Bank Mandiri President Director Darmawan Junaidi said Bank Mandiri's digital services at IKN will be located at the Central Government Core Area Banking Service Center (KIPP), which is a strategic and representative area for state and private institutions.

In addition, Darmawan said that the Bank Mandiri office would be built with a green or environmentally friendly and digital-based concept, in accordance with IKN's vision as a smart and sustainable city.

Darmawan hopes that the presence of Independent Digital Services at IKN can make a positive contribution to economic and social development in IKN, especially in the transition process from the current capital so that it can run smoothly and as expected.

"We are also committed to participating in developing the financial services ecosystem at IKN, together with other state and private institutions that participate in IKN development," said Darmawan.

For information, previously Bank Mandiri had also signed a memorandum of understanding on banking services and cooperation agreements for issuing Government credit cards with the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) in mid-2023.

Meanwhile, this collaboration is an effort to facilitate financial transactions, not only for retail people but for institutions.

The memorandum of understanding signed is the initial basis for the preparation of further cooperation agreements, including Payroll Payment cooperation, Government Credit Card Issuance cooperation, and e-Money Co-branding cooperation as OIKN Employee Identity Cards.
