Vice President: Handling COVID-19 Requires Central And Regional Extra Hard Work
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said handling the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia requires extra hard work between the central government and local governments.
"This COVID-19 pandemic does require extra work, extra hard work, and cooperation, hand in hand between the center and the regions," said Ma'ruf Amin, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 21.
The Vice President said all parties have worked hard and carried out their duties as well as possible in dealing with COVID-19 so far.
With the current increasing number of transmissions, the Vice President asked the regional government to coordinate with the relevant ministries and non-ministerial government institutions (K/L).
"I want to encourage and facilitate so that coordination between the central and regional governments can be carried out even better. I know very well that all parties have carried out their duties as well as possible," explained the Vice President.
Regarding the implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) in East Java, the Vice President said that the achievement of reducing mobility in the recreation sector has not been realized to its full potential.
"Regarding the implementation of Emergency PPKM, I fully understand the difficulties in East Java," said the Vice President.
In addition, based on the Google Community Mobility Report, the Vice President continued, the decline in community mobility in East Java is still far from DKI Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Bali.
"The decline has not been as far as DKI Province, still below Yogyakarta and Bali. So for East Java Province, additional efforts are needed so that the implementation of PPKM can be even better," said the Vice President.

Meanwhile, regarding the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa said vaccine doses from the center had been distributed to each district and city.
Khofifah also expressed her gratitude to the central government for getting an additional dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
"We express our gratitude that we have received an additional 220 thousand doses, this has indeed entered the second dose," said Khofifah.
