Luhut Asks The Community To Cohesively Face COVID-19 Delta Variant: No Country Has Succeeded In Overcoming It

JAKARTA - The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment as well as the coordinator of the Java-Bali Emergency Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, asked the community to work hand in hand in dealing with the Delta variant of COVID-19.

Luhut also reminded the public to be aware of the Delta variant of COVID-19. Because if you are negligent it will involve the loss of life for some people.

"I ask all of us to work together to solve this, this is a humanitarian issue. We act quickly, the delay in taking action is related to how many people died. We are in politics, of course, this can also cause people to die", he said in a virtual press conference, Wednesday, July 21.

The coordinator of the Java-Bali Emergency PPKM said the government had heard and received several inputs from various parties regarding the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Luhut acknowledged, this Delta variant is difficult to deal with.

"Believe me we did our best, but the Delta is a difficult thing to deal with, it's true. No country in the world can now claim that they have overcome this", he said.

Luhut said the decision-making process for Emergency PPKM was not easy. Therefore, he emphasized that the government did not want to rush to revoke PPKM level 4.

"This level 4 PPKM rule has been stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 22 of 2021. In addition to level 4, there are also lower levels", he explained.
