Environmentally Friendly, DKI Provincial Government Urges To Distribute Sacrificial Meat Using Bamboo Seeds, Not Black Plastic

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has appealed to the sacrificial committee for Eid al-Adha 1442 Hijriah to avoid using plastic containers. Namely by using environmentally friendly containers such as banana leaves, taro leaves, bamboo baskets, coconut leaves, and pandan leaves.

"We urge you to use containers made of environmentally friendly materials that are easily available to distribute sacrificial meat," said Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency Syaripudin in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 20.

Instead, he continued, the sacrificial committee should not use single-use plastic bags or black plastic bags as meat containers.

"Plastic or crackle bags are a type of waste that takes hundreds of years to decompose naturally," he said.

Meanwhile, Acting Mayor of South Jakarta Isnawa Adji suggested using a basket made of bamboo or bongsang for meat containers. In addition to being environmentally friendly, he said, using bongsang can also move the economy of MSME actors.

"We recommend using alternative containers that are environmentally friendly, for example using bongsang or small baskets made of bamboo," said Adji.
