Anies Baswedan Interprets Eid Al-Adha By Making The Story Of Prophet Ibrahim An Example

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan interprets Eid al-Adha 1442 H as a long sacrifice during the COVID-19 pandemic to become better.

"We hope that Allah SWT will replace this long sacrifice with something better, God willing," said Anies in the Instagram account @aniesbaswedan in Jakarta, quoted from era.id, Tuesday, July 20.

In his speech, Anies conveyed the exemplary story of the family of Prophet Ibrahim Alaihissalam, namely Siti Hajar and Prophet Ibrahim Alaihissalam who lived about 4,300 years ago with lessons that can still be learned in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The wisdom from the family of Prophet Ibrahim, he continued, namely obedience to carry out responsibilities, about surrendering to Allah, going through difficult times by supporting and strengthening each other.

"This year again, we must celebrate Eid al-Adha in a time of concern and limitations. This is an effort that we still have to do together," said Anies.

On that occasion, he also prayed for strength to be given to people who are fighting on the front lines against the pandemic, including health workers, field officers to those working in essential and critical sectors that support the needs of the community.

"May Allah strengthen them, flee the enemy with His oneness, lift the trials of this pandemic from the face of the earth," he added.

Previously, the former Minister of Education and Culture invited Jakarta residents to hold Eid prayers at their respective homes.

The implementation of Eid prayers at home has also been carried out in the previous year to avoid the spread of COVID-19 which is still soaring.

"We urge all organizers to hold Eid prayers in their respective homes as we did last year," Anies said on Sunday, July 18.
