Rakesh, The Owner Of A Warkop In Medan Who Pours Hot Water On Officers, Is Being Questioned By The Police

MEDAN - The case of sprinkling hot water on officers by a coffee shop owner (Warkop) named Rakesh (42) during the Emergency PPKM in Medan City was processed by the police.

In addition to being sentenced to a fine of IDR 300,000 and imprisonment for 2 days, Rakesh was also questioned by the police. Rakesh is reported by watering victims.

"The victim of hot water spraying made a police report, supported by information on sanctions from other agencies. He (Rakesh) did hot water," said Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Polrestabes, Medan Kompol Rafles Langgak Marpaung, Friday, July 16.

Rafles explained that the police had finished their investigation. Police did not arrest Rakesh. The reason is because there is faith, peace between the two parties.

"If there is peace, we will carry out restorative justice, not all cases are brought to trial, the important thing is that peace has occurred. There has been an agreement between both parties," he continued.

But Rafles did not explain the status of Rakesh. He only explained that Rakesh had to report to the police station.

"Before there is peace, you must report it," explained Rafles.

Before being summoned by the police, Rafles explained that Rakesh had undergone a trial for a minor crime (Tipiring). The trial was related to the Emergency PPKM violation at the Rakesh cafe on Jalan Gatot Subroto, Medan City, Wednesday, July 14.

At that time, said Rafles, Rakesh's cafe violated the Emergency PPKM rules, namely serving visitors who eat and drink on the spot.

"If you buy it out, you can go home, you can or if there is a delivery order, there is an online motorcycle taxi. But what the officers met on the first day, he did a lot of eating and drinking on the spot, told to disperse, still not willing," he explained

The next morning joint officers conducted socialization to Rakesh's place. However, according to witness statements, Rakesh still allows visitors to eat at his place.

At that time there was an argument with the joint officers until Rekesh poured hot water. For the violation of the prokes, Rakesh is obliged to undergo the Tipiring trial.

"(So) Tipiring's trial was conducted in which he was sentenced to 2 days in prison and a fine of Rp. 300 thousand. However, there is an option of 14 days trial," he said.

"This means that for 14 days he will be monitored whether he has behaved well according to the regulations, otherwise he will be locked up for 2 days. (If) the fine has been paid," he continued.

According to Rafles, there are differences between the tiping case and the reporting of abuse to the police.

"Why is the trial immediately called a brief examination, so in the tipiring, there is no need to complicate files, look for witnesses, evidence and so on. A trial on the spot can be done," he said.

Meanwhile, Rakesh's criminal report to the police must go through a different legal mechanism.

"For the matter of persecution, they must fight against officers, namely they must be arrested, in the BAP, they can be detained and so on," said Rafles.
