Thousands Of Children In Central Kalimantan Positive For COVID-19, Two Died

JAKARTA - Head of the Central Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, Suyuti Syamsul, said that the number of COVID-19 cases in children in her area was quite high.

"The cases of COVID-19 in the category of children are quite high", he said in Palangka Raya, as reported by Antara, Thursday, July 15.

Meanwhile, based on data compiled by the Central Kalimantan Health Office, starting from the beginning of the pandemic until July 15, 2021, the cumulative positive COVID-19 for all ages reached 29,390 cases.

Meanwhile, the cumulative age group of less than 1 year reached 95 children or 0.32 percent. Age 1-5 years the number reached 844 children or 2.87 percent, one of whom died.

Furthermore, the cumulative exposure to COVID-19 in the 6-15 year age group reached 2,302 children or 7.83 percent, one of whom died.

According to him, implementing health protocols is more difficult for children, especially if their parents do not supervise.

For this reason, increasing discipline, including supervision of the implementation of health procedures for children, is very important to prevent exposure to COVID-19.

Suyuti always said that implementing health protocols in a disciplined manner was an effective way to prevent exposure to the Coronavirus, such as wearing masks, washing hands with soap and running water, maintaining distance, and staying away from crowds.

Meanwhile, the latest data submitted by the Central Kalimantan COVID-19 Task Force Team on Thursday at 15.00 WIB, confirmed cases, there was an addition of 258 people.

The additions were 69 people in Palangka Raya, 12 people in Katingan, 38 people in East Kotawaringin, 53 people in West Kotawaringin, 30 people in Lamandau, seven people in Sukamara, 10 people in Pulang Pisau, 10 people in Kapuas, 19 people in Gunung Mas, 2 people in East Barito and 8 people in Murung Raya.

The number of recovered cases increased by 201 people, namely in Palangka Raya 52 people, Katingan five people, Kotim 57 people, Kobar 36 people, Lamandau 14 people, Sukamara eight people, Pulpis two people, Kapuas 19 people, South Barito two people, Bartim and Mura three people each.

Death cases increased by 14 people, namely in Palangka Raya five people, Kotim two people, Kobar three people, Sukamara one person, Kapuas two people, and Bartim one person.
