A cadet from a government-owned shipping school in Semarang City, Central Java, with the initials MG (19), is suspected of being a victim of abuse by senior cadets and teachers at the educational institution.

MG's family attorney, Ignatius Radit, said the victim was the first level cadet to enter in 2022.

"This victim has even been abused three months after entering the school," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 14.

After being accepted and admitted to the shipping school, said Radit, the victim had already experienced abuse by a caregiver who was a state civil servant (ASN) at the educational institution.

Furthermore, the cadet from Jakarta experienced persecution by a number of senior cadets as a form of discipline

Radit said the victim had received treatment at the hospital with a diagnosis, including experiencing bleeding urine to freezing the retinal vessels of the eyes.

"All medical records in the hospital examination already exist," he continued.

MG's parents, added Radit, had even met the head of the shipping school and finally brought the victim home in November 2022.

The victim's parents asked for protection from the school leadership for the act of persecution. The school, which guarantees the security and cultural changes of "violence" at the shipping school, asked MG to resume its education.

According to him, MG finally returned to education starting May 1, 2023, with the promise of the school leader.

"However, it turns out that the violence experienced by the victim has repeated itself. Finally, it even happened on Tuesday (13/6) night," said Radit.

This incident has been reported to the police, the Ombudsman, to the application to the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK).

For the time being, said Radit, the victim returned to his family while waiting for confirmation of the school's promise to eliminate the tradition of violence that is still happening.

Confirmed separately, the Head of the Ombudsman Representative for Central Java, Siti Farida, confirmed that there were complaints about cases of abuse at shipping schools.

However, the complaint was forwarded to the Central Ombudsman because it was related to the Ministry of Transportation as the reported party.

"The report contains hopes that there will be no more acts of violence at the shipping school," he said.
