PAPUA - Papuan Police have tightened supervision of the border rat route for Indonesia-Papua New Guinea (PNG). Increased control following up on the direction of the National Police Chief regarding the prevention and handling of criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO)
Papua Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Pol Ramdani Hidayat said that for this reason his party would also intensely coordinate security in the border area.
"On Thursday (June) we visited the border area and strengthened coordination to eradicate human trafficking," he said in Jayapura, Papua, Friday, June 9, which was confiscated by Antara.
During the visit, Ramdani said he would alert personnel at the rat road points as well as deploy sniffer dogs to sniff out potential smuggling of prohibited goods.
"Regarding sniffer dogs, the Papua Police Dit Samapta will prepare them, if they cannot stay here, they will come from the Regional Police every day," he said.
Ramdani said the two sniffer dogs would be on standby from 08.00 East Indonesia Time (WIT) to 16.00 WIT.
"The Papuan Police will also help to fill the Pol sub-sector Skouw if it has been inaugurated and will form a Border Police as at the Sota Merauke Police," he said again.
He added that if the building had been officially given to the Papuan Police, his party with the Police Chief and Karo HR would help facilitate it by placing a minimum of 15 people.
