"The additional quota starting today has been confirmed to have been included in e-Hajj, a total of 8,000 people," said Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas. reported by ANTARA, Sunday, May 7.
Yaqut said the Ministry of Religion is currently still waiting for an official letter from Saudi Arabia regarding the addition of the quota and will immediately discuss it with the DPR.
In addition, the Ministry of Religion will also continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia.
"The Ministry of Religion will communicate intensively with various parties, including the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia, to respond to this additional quota," he said.
This year, Indonesia received 221,000 quotas for Hajj candidates. This number consists of 203,320 regular hajj quotas and 17,680 special hajj quotas. They have carried out the payment process from April 11 to May 5, 2023.
There are still 14,356 people who have not paid or confirmed the payment of the 1444 H Hajj Travel Fee (Bipih) so that the process is extended until May 12, 2023.
According to the Minister of Religion, there are a number of stages that must be carried out in the process of departing pilgrims, since the quota stipulation. First, the Ministry of Religion must hold a working meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR to discuss the use of additional quotas and financing.
"The results of the agreement with the DPR are then used as the basis for the issuance of the Presidential Decree regarding additional quotas. After that, a Decree of the Minister of Religion on Guidelines for Hajj Repayment for Additional Quota must be issued," said the Minister of Religion.
At the same time, he said, the Ministry of Religion will immediately verify the data of the pilgrims who have the right to leave and then be announced as pilgrims who have the right to pay. The next stage is the payment period.
"Along with the payment, the Ministry of Religion will arrange congregational documents, starting from passports, adjusting service contracts with service providers in Saudi, so that additional quota congregation visas can also be issued," he said.
The flight contract will also be adjusted along with the additional quota, and includes arrangements for the distribution of batches and flight schedules.
