The U-22 Indonesian National Team Did Not Choose An Opponent In The Semifinals, Indra Sjafri: Whoever Later, We Are Ready To Defeat
JAKARTA - The U-22 Indonesian national team will not choose an opponent in the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games semifinals. Whoever the opponent is, Garuda Nusantara is ready to bulldoze.
Currently, the U-22 Indonesian national team is at the top of the 2023 SEA Games Group A standings. The opportunity to qualify for the semifinals is quite open.
Meanwhile in Group B, defending champions Vietnam are still entrenched at the top of the standings with six points from two matches. Below Malaysia and Thailand are constantly trying to catch tickets to qualify for the semifinals.
"Go ahead and they fight in Group B and whoever will be our opponent later, we are ready to beat them," said Indra Sjafri.
Pratama Arhan and his friends still have two group matches left, namely against Timor Leste on Sunday, May 7, and the last one facing the host Cambodia, Wednesday, May 10.
"We focus one by one on the game. We don't really think about who will qualify. If I say the name, it means I pray for the team that will qualify later," said Indra, as quoted from Antara.
The U-22 Indonesian national team is still looking for the best formation. Of the 20 players brought, Coach Indra Sjafri has played 14 players to start when the Garuda Muda national team against the Philippines and Myanmar.
"We use this group phase as an effort to find the best eleven players. This means that there will be a rotation of players including against Timor Leste and Cambodia. This includes goalkeepers," said the former Bali United coach.
Regarding the eight goals created in two matches and without conceding, Indra Sjafri admitted that he was still not satisfied with the performance of his team because there were still some tactical errors such as individual players in deciding actions.
