Classic Toy Jokowi: Releasing The Truth In Information
JAKARTA - The issue of President Joko Widodo's diploma (Jokowi) has consistently become a "political frying" that reappears at crucial moments, such as general elections, large demonstrations, or cabinet reshuffles. The main focus is the use of this issue by political opponents to create public doubts and distrust of Jokowi's leadership legitimacy.
The use of the issue of diplomas in political rhetoric effectively generalizes society. Those who are already skeptical of the government tend to believe in the narrative of doubt, while loyal supporters of Jokowi consider it a heinous slander, creating deep divisions in public opinion.
The first perspective saw it from a legal point of view, proceeding in a judicial area and ending with a court decision. Meanwhile, the second perspective saw it from the political dynamics that were processed in the space of public narratives and had no end. Former Constitutional Court judge Maruarar Siahaan emphasized that transparency is the main key in building a country that adheres to a democratic system with the principle of openness.

Jokowi's decision in determining himself to be a national scale leader will automatically allow and be ready to be open. According to Maruara, transparency is an important ethical standard for a country leader.
"The essence of the law is moral ethics. So reading from moral ethics itself that a person who is willing to lead the nation, he has opened himself, including information as secret as the diploma, must be opened," said Maruarar, who was originally Jokowi's supporter.
On the same occasion, telematics expert and suspect in the alleged defamation case of Jokowi, Roy Suryo, expressed his agreement with this view.
He assessed that public officials (including Jokowi) should be ready to be dissected in their track records. According to Roy, openness is a form of moral responsibility as well as retaliatory services to the people who have given the mandate of office.
"So it means that public officials must be ready to be dismantled because he becomes a public official for the sacrifices of the people who choose him," he said.
Polemic Of Diplomas And Simple How To Prove It
Jokowi's fake diploma polemic seems to have no end. The following research conducted by Roy Suryo Cs also resulted in a new lawsuit from Jokowi volunteers. So how to be precise and fast in proving the authenticity of a person's diploma regardless of whether he is an ordinary person or a public official
The diploma archive owned by the Indonesian people under Law No.43 of 2009 must be kept by universities. This rule confirms a copy of a person's diploma that must be stored in a university as evidence that he has studied/schooled at that place.
Archivear Expert Madya from the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia, Susanti explained that the national archive also stores all stationary archives from state institutions, companies, political organizations (orpol), mass organizations and individuals.
"Especially to prove the original or fake diploma, it is better to straighten it out at the university concerned and the responsibility of universities in accordance with Article 27 in Law 43 of 2009, one of which is to store the static archives created in the university," Susanti told VOI in a written message.
Susanti added that to prove the authenticity of a person's diploma, be it ordinary people or public officials, they can use comparisons with other diplomas at the same faculty and the same graduation year.
"In the archive rules, it is also explained that the proof of the authenticity of the diploma can be juxtaposed with his appointed friends who are at the same faculty and graduation year," explained Susanti.
Posita And Causa Prima
The prime causa or often typed as a 'primary causa' is a Latin phrase meaning "first cause" or "major cause". This concept comes from the philosophy ofTEN, which uses the Greek term ho o kinoumenon kinei (which moves undriven) to describe similar ideas. In concise, the prime causa is the cause without cause, which is the origin of everything that does not depend on anything else for its existence. This concept is used in various fields, including philosophy and theology.
The commotion in the public space triggered by the polemic of Jokowi and Gibran's diploma led an advocat named Komardin to file a lawsuit or judicial review of Article 17 letter g, Article 17 letter h number 5, and Article 18 paragraph 2 letter a of Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure (UU KIP). The lawsuit with case number 174/PUU-XXIII/2025 was filed so that diploma documents and the thesis of an official and former official were not included in the exception of personal information and must be accessed publicly.
"Declaring Law Number 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure Article 17 letter g which reads, Public Information which if disclosed can reveal the contents of an authentic deed that is private and of a person's will or will is excluded information, but a thesis, diploma, an official, a former state official and/or everything that has been paid using state money does not include documents that are excluded and can be requested if necessary by the public," said Komardin in a preliminary hearing at the Constitutional Court, Friday, October 10.
He said, one of the reasons this lawsuit was filed was because the issue of the diplomas of these officials often made noise in the condition of the community. "There was noise everywhere that caused our efforts to be difficult. Yes, there were frequent demonstrations, then there was debate, and so on," he added.
In his post, Komardin also touched on the issue of Joko Widodo's diploma, which according to him was constrained by Gadjah Mada University, which was reluctant to provide information and evidence so that conditions became more noisy. "Therefore, the applicant filed a lawsuit against UGM at the Sleman District Court with the aim of preventing the petitioner's demands from continuing," he said.
The victims of Jokowi's diploma matters have recorded two people who felt the coldness of being locked up. Recently, Polda Metro Jaya named 8 suspects and banned them from going abroad. Regarding such a legal tragedy, the General Chairperson of the Nusantara Awakening Party, Anas Urbaningrum, said that correction to justice was a commendable political act.
"Yang kasat mata masalah belum tentu diproses hukum. Sementara yang diproses hukum dan dipidasi bersalah belum tentu orang yang benar-benar ada bersalah. Kondisi seperti ini merupakan keadaan yang betul-benar penting untuk diperbaiki secara bersama. Agar hukum di bangsa ini benar-benar berkantamkan keadilan. Bersamanya hukum musti tumbuh keadilan. " tandasnya.
