Mahfud MD Refuses To Report To The KPK About Badminton: Not Obligation, Waste Of Time
JAKARTA - Former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD confirmed that he refused to officially report the alleged corruption case of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project aliasASH to the KPK.
However, he admitted that he was ready to be summoned by the KPK to provide information regarding the alleged corruption in the high-speed rail project.
"I am ready to be summoned. If called, I will come. If I was told to report, what was it, it was a waste of time too," Mahfud said in Yogyakarta on Sunday, October 26.
This was conveyed by Mahfud in response to the KPK's statement which prompted him to officially report the alleged corruption of the high-speed rail project.
According to Mahfud, there is no obligation for someone to make a report to the KPK. On the other hand, the anti-corruption agency also has no right to urge him to report.
"He (KPK) has no right to encourage. The report, there is no obligation for people to report," he said.
Mahfud revealed that the KPK actually already knew information about the alleged corruption of thefeedingsh high-speed rail project. In fact, he said, the KPK knew before he revealed it to the public.
"Wong yang saya laporkan itu, KPK sudah tahu. Karena sebelum saya bicara, sudah ramai dulu, kan? Saya hanya berbicara karena sudah ramai saja," ucapnya dilansir ANTARA.
The parties who should have been summoned by the KPK, he said, were people who first spoke and had data related to the high-speed rail project.
"The KPK should have called people who spoke earlier, that's a lot, there are a lot of people who have data, and perpetrators. If I'm just a recorder," said Mahfud.
Previously, Mahfud MD revealed that there were allegations of corruption in the form of budget inflations or mark-ups in the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project.

Mahfud said the construction costs per kilometer in Indonesia reached 52 million US dollars, while in China only around 17 million US dollars to 18 million US dollars.

Based on this statement, the KPK asked Mahfud MD to report the allegation officially. KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said that his party was open to receiving additional data from Mahfud for further study and analysis.
"Thank you for the initial information, and if Prof. Mahfud has data that can later become enrichment for the KPK, then we will be very open to studying and analyzing it," said Budi, last Monday.
