Xiaomi Launches Alternative IPad Mini With 165Hz Screen

JAKARTA - Xiaomi officially launched Pad Mini globally, a compact Android tablet that rivals the iPad Mini with a 165Hz screen and a high-end processor. At the same time, the REDMI Pad 2 Pro comes with a 12.1-inch larger screen, jumbo battery, and affordable price.

Despite the debate over whether the iPhone is worth buying at a high price, it is undeniable that Apple's iPad dominates the tablet market. However, if you want alternatives other than Apple products, Xiaomi has good news. The company has just introduced two new tablets: Xiaomi Pad Mini and REDMI Pad 2 Pro.

Xiaomi Pad Mini is actually not a whole new product. This tablet was first launched in China as REDMI K Pad in June. However, its global launch is good news for Android users looking for alternative iPad Mini.

This compact tablet carries an 8.8-inch 3K resolution screen with a very smooth refresh rate of 165Hz and a peak brightness of 700 nits. The screen also supports Dolby Vision and has TUV Rheinland certification for long-term usage convenience.

In the performance sector, Xiaomi Pad Mini is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset which is also used on flagship phones such as the Xiaomi 15T Pro. This tablet is equipped with LPDDR5X RAM up to 12GB and UFS 4.1 to 512GB storage, making it superior in small tablet classes.

The battery has a capacity of 7,500mAh with support for HyperCharge 67W fast charging. There is also an 18W charging feature, allowing this tablet to become a power bank to charge mobile phones or earbuds. Another interesting feature is the presence of two USB-C ports, which facilitates the use of accessories while charging. Xiaomi Pad Mini is priced starting from 429 US dollars (Rp7.1 million) for the 8GB/256GB variant.

For those who want a tablet with a larger screen, the REDMI Pad 2 Pro can be an option. This tablet comes with a 12.1-inch screen with 2.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 600 nits of brightness, and Dolby Vision support. The unique feature is the Matte Glass variant which uses AG nano-texture layers to reduce light reflection by up to 97%, ideal for reading or working outdoors.

The REDMI Pad 2 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor with RAM up to 8GB and 256GB storage. Even though it is not as strong as the flagship chipset at Xiaomi Pad Mini, its performance remains qualified for various needs. The battery is very large, 12,000mAh, with 33W fast charging support and 27W backfill.

Xiaomi offers three variants: standard Wi-Fi model, 5G version, and premium Matte Glass edition. Prices ranging from 299.9 euros for the 6GB/128GB Wi-Fi variant, making it an interesting alternative compared to Apple's iPad Pro. 5G and Matte Glass variants are priced from 379.99 euros each.
