Caught Stealing Honda Vario, Thief In Grogol Petamburan Beaten By Residents

Two motorcycle thieves with the initials TA (33) and ADS (32) almost became victims of the mass tantrum after being caught stealing on Jalan Swadaya Raya, RT 03/06, Wijaya Kusuma Village, Grogol Petamburan District, West Jakarta.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Grogol Petamburan Police, Kompol Reza Hafiz Gumilang, said that his party moved quickly to the location after receiving reports from residents regarding an attempt to steal motorized vehicles.

"We managed to secure the two perpetrators and at the same time save them from the tantrums of the masses who had started to get emotional because the actions of the perpetrators were known directly by local residents," said Kompol Reza when confirmed, Tuesday (10/6/2025).

It is known that the incident began when the victim with the initials MI parked his Honda Vario motorbike on the side of the road, right in front of his workplace, in a locked condition.

Shortly thereafter, the two perpetrators came and tried to take the motorbike away using the letter T key.

Their action was caught directly by the victim, who then shouted at the perpetrator. Local residents who heard spontaneous screams gave help by chasing and arresting the two perpetrators.

Angry mobs had vented their emotions. However, thanks to the alertness of police officers, the two perpetrators were arrested without further escalation.

"Currently, we have secured the two perpetrators and evidence at the Mapolsek for further legal proceedings," added Kompol Reza.

Both were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft by weight.
