The East Indies Presents Mixtape Doves, '25 On Blank Canvas' As A Form Of Freedom Of Music Exploration

JAKARTA - Baskara Putra, known for his moniker, Hindia, released a mixtape titled Doves, 25 on Blank Canvas which can already be enjoyed on various digital streaming platforms.

This Mixtape contains 16 songs, with all the lyric videos visible via YouTube, and the physical medium can be obtained through the official website via SDY.

Meanwhile, Doves, 25 on Blank Canvas is Baskara's natural and spontaneous reaction to various events that he experienced and observed at the end of 2024.

This Mixtape tries to showcase the freedom of Exploration of Indian music 'merging guitar-based music as well as electronics, mixing Indonesian and English in its lyrics, to responding and/or inserting the work of other musicians.

"There are several things I want to talk about to feel 'excited', completing many stories that have been told through Indian songs from several years ago so that later after this mixtape, namely on the third album, I can start the new chapter cleanly," Baskara said in his statement, Tuesday, February 25.

In addition, said Baskara, he has been triggered by the turmoil that has occurred in Indonesia recently.

"It's hard not to respond at all to these things. There is strong prejudice that this work should be released now, not sooner, not longer," Baskara said.

"Then musically, the entire mixtape has been affected by various musicians that I've heard over the past few months. So, everything is done spontaneously," he added.

In its cultivation, this mixtape involved several musicians who acted as producers, namely Iga Massardi, Lafa Pratomo, Enrico Octaviano, Kareem BAP. Soenharjo, Luthfi Melonz Adianto (Cosmicburp), and Adrian Mahendra Putra (Blue Valley Radio).

In addition, there are also Kusuma Utha Widhiana (Blue Valley Radio), Kevin Queency, BF-131131525, and Emir Agung Mahendra who also collaborated on the song "betty" on behalf of his pop duo entity, White Chorus.

With the release of this mixtape, the East Indies together with its team at Ten-Tent Four (1024), are preparing for a collaboration with the Jabba Connection to hold a launch concert of Doves, 25 on Blank Canvas. The show will be held in Gianyar, Bali on March 22.
