NASA Association Administrator Robert Cabana Will Retire Soon

JAKARTA - After 38 years of work, United States Administrator of the United States Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) Robert Cabana will officially retire on December 31.

This news was announced on NASA's official website on Monday, November 13. Before Cabana officially stopped, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson expressed his gratitude for Cabana's decades of service.

"I am forever grateful for the dedication and positive influence he has had on the United States, NASA, and space exploration and wish him all the best in his upcoming retirement," Nelson said in a release.

Nelson praised Cabana's contribution so far and said that Cabana was one of the best leaders at NASA. He said he was lucky to have known Cabana for decades.

Cabana has had a very long career journey at NASA. Starting from astronauts, Cabana has undergone four missions into space, two of whom made Cabana the commander.

After jumping as an astronaut, Cabana was promoted to director at Florida's Kennedy Space Center for more than a decade. Furthermore, Cabana was appointed as the associate administrator.

During his tenure, Cabana had to lead 10 NASA central directors. He is also a chief operating officer at NASA Headquarters and manages more than 18,000 employees and oversees the annual budget.

This whole task is considered a great honor for Cabana. He said he was grateful for the process of his career while at NASA, from exploring the solar system to leading the team to achieving NASA's mission.

"I am blessed to be a part of an extraordinary team over the last 38 years and serving as an associate administrator with Bill and Pam is very important," said Cabana.

For information, Cabana officially joined NASA in June 1985. This association administrator has scored many awards during his work until he finally officially retired at the age of 74.
