DPR America Creates Bill Regarding Commercial Space Company Authorization

The United States House of Representatives (DPR) Science Committee announced that they had made a Draft Law (RUU) on Commercial Space in 2023.

This bill was created to create a mission authorization system related to all commercial space activities. The bill is designed to coordinate space traffic.

"This RU creates a profitable and competitive environment at home by simplifying our regulatory process and clarifying the federal role in licensing commercial space activities," Republican House of Representatives member Frank Lucas said, quoted by VOIdariSpacenews.

One of the important parts of this bill is the certification process for independent commercial spacecraft or does not require permission from other institutions such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

This certification process needs to be made to address the uncertainty of the party responsible for granting permits and supervision related to all activities of commercial space companies.

Through this design, all companies must also provide basic information about their spacecraft to the Space Commerce Office, including mitigation plans from the debris the company generates.

In addition to regulating commercial companies, this bill will appoint the Space Trade Office in Aspect to become the Main Commerce Department. Later, the department leadership will provide a direct report to the Minister of Trade.

In addition, the bill, which will be considered this week, will direct the United States Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) in establishing theSpace Situational Awareness Institute to lead research from theSpace Situational Awareness (SSA).
