JAKARTA - Last week, Meta was sued by 41 state attorney generals. The company is accused of carrying various harmful features and products and manipulative to children's psychology.

Following up on these demands, former Facebook employee and Instagram Consultant Arturo Bejar will testify at the Judiciary Committee hearing on 7 November.

According to Engadget's report, Bejar will testify about Meta's failure to act. This testimony is based on the results of his research showing bad experience for teenage Instagram users.

Bejar is a Facebook employee from 2009 to 2015. However, four years later he returned to work to advise the Instagram welfare team based on the results of his research.

According to the data that Bejar got, more than 20 percent of users under the age of 16 felt he was worse after seeing other people's uploads and as many as 13 percent of teenagers experienced unwanted sexual seduction in the last seven days.

Before being withdrawn as a witness, Bejar consulted with a number of state officials regarding the case. In the end, Bejar will reveal all his experiences while working on Facebook in the upcoming trial.

Meanwhile, from Bejar's confession, Senators Marsha Blalaburn and Richard Blumenthal stressed that all Meta executives, including Mark Zuckerberg and Adam Mosseri, were aware of the adverse effects of their platform.

"Personally (they) are warned that millions of teenagers face intimidation, dietary disorders material, illegal drugs, and sexual exploitation, often within minutes of opening the app," Blackburn and Blumenthal explained in a statement.

However, looking at this situation, Facebook prefers to put up and hide the bad effects like this from the public and the supervision of Congress. In fact, they are taking steps that are considered detrimental to children.
