FAA Officially Closes Investigations Regarding New Shepard's Failure To Launch

JAKARTA - The United States Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) decided to close an investigation into the failed launch of Blue Origin's New Shepard, a US aerospace company, a year ago.

The New Shepard rocket was supposed to take off on September 12 last year in West Texas, but failed about 1 minute 5 seconds after launch due to anomalies. This problem also caused New Shepard to fall back to earth.

Although the failure of the mission did not cause injury or property damage, Blue Origin immediately conducted an investigation with the FAA.

Reporting from Space, Blue Origin already knows the cause of the March failure of the launch.

The final report says the direct cause of the September 12, 2022 crash was the engine nozel structural failure caused by higher engine operating temperatures than expected, the FAA wrote in a press release on 27 September.

The FAA also provided a number of lists Blue Origin needs to make before New Shepard is allowed to fly back. In the report, there were 21 corrective measures to prevent similar failures.

Blue Origin must implement all corrective measures that have an impact on public safety and receive license modifications from the FAA that meet all the safety requirements and other applicable regulations before the launch of the next New Shepard," the FAA said.

In line with this problem, Blue Origin is reshuffling massively. One of them is replacing Blue Origin CEO Bob Smith with Amazon Executive Dave Limp.
