JAKARTA - Since Elon Musk introduced a subscription to check the verification blue on Twitter, many users have found a sharp increase in spam on its Direct Message (DM).

Admitting the problem, the company finally said that they were making changes to reduce the spam money sent to a paid user's inbox.

Starting July 14, Twitter will introduce a new message setting that aims to reduce spam in DM by moving messages from verified users that you don't follow back to the 'Message Request' inbox, instead of to the main inbox.

Starting as soon as July 14th, we're adding a new messages setting that should help reduce the number of spam messages in DMs. With the new setting enabled, messages from users who you follow will arrive in your primary inbox, and messages from verified users who you don't follow...

Previously, people would only be able to send DM to you if you selected the option to receive messages from anyone via Twitter Settings or receive messages from verified users. That is, you specifically choose to receive Direct Messages from Verified (paid) users.

"Starting July 14, we are adding a new messaging setting that will help reduce the number of spam messages in DM. By activating a new setting, messages from users you follow will arrive in your main inbox, and messages from verified users that you do not follow will be sent to your message request inbox," Twitter wrote in its post.

But Twitter also noted that if users still want to receive DMs from Verified users in their main inbox, they can manually switch to that settings at any time after these changes take effect.

"Users who previously set their permits to allow messaging requests from everyone will be migrated to these new settings, but can switch back at any time. For more information about these changes," he added.
