Microsoft Presents Smart Recap Features For Premium Teams

JAKARTA - Microsoft earlier this year launched Teams Premium, adding the Artificial Intelligence (AI) feature. One of them is a smart recap for meetings, and now the feature is available.

A smart recap will help users catch meetings they miss or repeat material. This feature will use GPT-based AI to generate meeting records, recommended tasks, and personalized highlights.

Microsoft stated in its official blog, quoted Thursday, June 1, its research shows 56 percent of Teams meeting participants claim it is difficult to summarize what happened during the event.

Meanwhile, 55 percent of users report it's unclear what things to do next after the meeting. Therefore, the smart recap feature is presented to Teams Premium.

The company shares several main ways of smart recaps that will help users attend meetings. Now, users can navigate efficiently to the most relevant part of the record for them through personalized timeline markers.

This feature can only be seen by individual users, which appear when their names are mentioned, when the screen is shared, and when they join or leave the meeting.

There are also speaker timeline markers, where this feature will feature who spoke during the meeting, when they spoke, and users could switch to that moment.

The marker of the speaker's timeline is set based on who users work the most. The smart recap feature in Teams will automatically produce a meeting chapter that divides the meeting into several parts.

So that users are easy to choose and jump into the most relevant parts, as well as meeting topics where users can jump to certain points in meetings when the topic is discussed.

A smart recap is currently available in English, with additional languages coming in the coming months. The company insists that the resulting data will not be exposed to third parties, and even in the case of GPT-based models.
