JAKARTA - Elon Musk, Chief Executive of Twitter Inc, revealed details about new features to be added to the platform, including voice calls and encrypted messages.

Last year, Musk announced plans for "Twitter 2.0 The Everything App", which he said would feature such as encrypted direct messages (DMs), long-form tweets, and payments.

"Soon there will be voice and video calling features from your account to anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people around the world without giving your phone number," Musk said in a tweet on Tuesday, May 9.

The voice calling feature on Twitter will set this microblogging platform on par with social media apps Meta, Facebook, and Instagram, which have similar features.

Musk said encrypted live messaging versions would be available on Twitter from Wednesday, May 10, but did not mention whether voice calls would also be encrypted.

This week, Twitter announced it will start the cleaning process by deleting and archive inactive accounts for several years.
